Today's Sermon:
Preached by our Director of Musical Arts Jeffrey Hoy
Passage: 2 Kings 18-19
Questions:
1. How does the passage describe King Hezekiah's character. What was he known for?
2. King Hezekiah is asked, "On what do you rest this trust of yours?" On your most discouraging days, what things are you tempted to trust in other than the LORD?
3. "Show me a man's prayer and I'll show you what he believes." Discuss what this means and how it makes you evaluate your own prayer life.
4. Psalm 46 tells us “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” How does this encourage you when you face times of distress?

Psalm 46 (ESV)
Psalm 46 (ESV) 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Corporate Confession of Sin
Our Heavenly Father, I confess that in my sin I still struggle to put my trust in You— especially when it seems to me like you’re silent or not answering in the timing that I’d prefer. Forgive me for my unbelief. Your thoughts and plans are much wiser and loving than my own. You are God. I am not. Please empower me by Your Spirit to grow in trusting and loving you more today. Help me be still and know that You are God. In Jesus we pray, Amen.
Assurance of Pardon
Ephesians 1:18–20 (ESV)
18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places
