We have a new Director of Children's Ministries!
If you’re part of the Willow Creek Church family, you know how special Drew Taylor is to us. Drew began his ministry at Willow Creek as an intern from nearby Reformed Theological Seminary. Serving within our children’s ministry, God eventually developed Drew into its director, a position he held for several years.
Earlier this year, our elders called Drew to the position of Assistant Pastor of Families and Connections. This move enables Drew to grow in some new directions, specifically better connecting our guests and members, while also insuring his continued presence within the children’s ministry.
In order to offset Drew’s step in these new directions, we are so pleased to announce that Joanna Diemer is our new Director of Children’s Ministries! Joanna’s been a consistent servant within our children’s ministry, and we believe that God’s prepared her for this very important role. We praise God for his provision.
Joanna Diemer was born and raised in the beautiful state of Oregon. She attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana where she met her husband Matt. The Diemer’s moved from the Cincinnati area to central Florida in 2000. Joanna’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law are long time WCC members, Nick & Angie Parker.
Joanna served as a middle school math teacher at Markham Woods Christian Academy until she decided to stay at home and care for her two children. She has homeschooled her daughter Sarah, a 10th grader at International Community School and also has a son, Alec, who is 21 years old and attends Taylor University.
Joanna has served in children’s ministry as a Sunday School teacher for 5 years, as well as a VBS leader, and has served as a MOPS (Mothers of Pre-schoolers) volunteer. Joanna loves supporting her children in their baseball and softball games, spending time with her husband, and reading or listening to podcasts.
It will take a little while for Joanna to get fully up to speed, so please keep her in your prayers. Also, remember that Pastor Drew is still connected with our children’s ministry. He can answer any questions you might have!
Much love in Jesus,
