Prayers for Mexico
One of our members passed along the following information from a prayer guide created by her father, a minister in Mexico. Please consider this information as we pray for the people and nation of Mexico ahead of their elections on July 1st.
More than 18, 300 positions will be filled in this election in these areas:
128 Senators 96 ( 3 from each estate ) and 32 by party representation
500 Representatives - 300 by district and 200 by party representation
9 Governors from the following states: Guanajuato, Veracruz, Jalisco, Mexico City, Morelos, Puebla, Chiapas, Yucatan and Tabasco.
All mayors, city council presidents, state and municipal legislatures and other associated positions.
That His people in Mexico and elsewhere will humble themselves before God and seek His face.
...if my people, who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14
That God would put men and women in authority that would allow us to have a quiet and peaceable life.
Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. I Timothy 2:1,2
That God would open the people's hearts and minds and that this election would be the beginning of a spiritual change in Mexico so that we would have God as our Lord.
Behold the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah...But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, I will put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Jeremiah 31:31,33
That people elected would be honest in handling the nation's resources.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. I Timothy 6:9
That God would put people in power that reward good and punish evil and that we would learn to submit to them.
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Romans 13:1-4
That God would not allow Enemy influence on this government so that it may be a government like none before it and that God's justice would prevail in the country.
Take away the wicked from before the king and his throne will be established in righteousness. Proverbs 25:5
That we would have a government directed by God.
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord. Like rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes. Proverbs 21:1
Pray for leaders and a country that join in Christ's mission to protect the most vulnerable: the poor, the sick, children, the aged, widows, orphans, prisoners, strangers and the disabled.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:18,19
That those in authority would use the means and resources of the country to promote the well-being of the family, in particular using the educational system to build good character in all children.
Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Ecclesiastes 8:11
Thank you for you prayer support in this crucial period in Mexico's history. We are literally praying for an entire country to turn to God. We don't see any other solutions. God bless you as you pray.
