"Hope for You" Sermon Series This February
This February, I’ve asked Drew Taylor, our Assistant Pastor of Families and Connections, to preach a three-part sermon series (February 4, 11, and 18). I love Drew and I love his passion for preaching. Free to choose any topic, he chose to preach on the believer's hope in the face of suffering. I’m glad he did.
As we’ve seen during our current survey of the Old Testament prophet Elijah, God’s children are not exempt from suffering. We live in a fallen world, and its fallenness touches us all. A sudden death. Discouraging medical news. Loss of employment. Battles with addiction. Struggles with anxiety and depression. Broken relationships. In one form or another, we all feel it.
However, while God allows us to suffer, he promises to comfort and guide us through it. He promises to work together all things, even bad things, for the good of those who love him, those he’s called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). He works in and through our hurts to accomplish healing purposes. This is a difficult truth, and therefore one well worth our time to explore. I’m looking forward to it, and hope you are as well.
You might be wondering, So what’s happening on Sunday, February 25th? Great question! You might remember that this is our Grace Encounter weekend. Our special guest that morning, for a combined worship service with Christian Family Worship Center, is Bishop Herb Andrew. I’m so excited about this. Bishop Andrew became a friend during last year’s conference, and if you remember his message last year, you know we’re primed for a blessing and encouragement in God’s Word.
Thank you for being part of the Willow Creek family!
You’re loved. Don’t forget it.
